To celebrate, represent and provide support for our diverse high school community

To increase community, teacher and parent engagement with Taroona High School

For the Taroona High School Association to function as a link to our school community

Welcome to the Taroona High School Association web site.

As a parent/carer of a student at Taroona High you are now automatically a member of our School Association. Come along to a meeting and discover ways you might like to be involved to support not only your child but all the students and staff at Taroona High.

Being involved with your school sends a strong message to your child that you are committed to their learning, you support their school and think their education is important.

Research has shown that students benefit from their parent’s involvement in many ways as they are more likely to have: Increased achievement – Improved attendance – Higher graduation rates – Better self esteem – less antisocial or risky behaviours such as cigarette, alcohol and drug use etc.

Our role is to support the students and staff in as many ways as possible. This includes running BBQs and food stalls at school events, helping with orientation for parents of new students, attending community forums and providing a parent voice at meetings.

There are many ways of participating. You can choose to attend meetings, be part of a sub committee or volunteer to help once a year at a school event. There is something someway you can help that suits the amount of time you have available. At various times we will send you emails inviting you to volunteer.

Don’t give up volunteering because you can’t be there every week. There are plenty of things that you can do to help both inside the classroom and out. Some parents volunteer on the committee, others work on gardening projects and some help out for one evening cooking on a food stall.
